How we handle your information
Last updated 6 November 2026
This site is run by 2016 Film LLC ("we"), the makers of the proof-of-concept film 2016. It exists to count the people who want to see more of 2016 as it works toward becoming a feature film. Questions: contact@2016movie.com.
What we collect
When you sign up, we store:
- your email address and first name;
- your age range, only if you choose to give it;
- when you signed up;
- when you agreed to news and promotional emails about the film (and when you unsubscribed, if you do);
- how you found the site: campaign tags in the link you used (for example
utm_source=instagram), the website that sent you (its domain only, such as instagram.com), and the page you first landed on.
If you opted in to email updates about 2016 when you used our casting submission or contact form, we've also included you in the count, using only your email address and first name from that form. You can unsubscribe from updates or ask us to delete your information in the same ways as everyone else (see "Your choices" below).
Separately, we count page visits as anonymous daily totals per traffic source (for example "Instagram: 120 visits on 6 November"). Those totals contain no identifiers, cookies or IP addresses.
We don't use advertising trackers, tracking cookies or third-party analytics on this site. We don't store your IP address with your signup.
Why we collect it
- To count you once. Each email address is counted once, however many times it's entered. People who opted in through our casting or contact forms are counted once too.
- To show demand for the film. We may share aggregate numbers (such as the total count, growth over time and where visitors came from) with producers, financiers, distributors and the public. We don't share your email address or name with them.
- To understand our audience. Age ranges help us see who the film speaks to and plan how to reach more people like them. We look at them as totals, and they're never shown publicly next to your name.
- To send news and promotional emails. Signing up on this site (or opting in on our casting or contact form) means you agree to receive news, behind-the-scenes and promotional emails about 2016. Every one includes an unsubscribe link. Unsubscribing also takes you off the count.
- To send emails you trigger, such as a short welcome email when you sign up, or a deletion confirmation. The welcome email includes a link to remove your address if someone else entered it.
We never sell your personal information.
Who helps us run this
- Cloudflare hosts this website and its database. Cloudflare Turnstile checks that signups come from people, not bots, by looking at signals from your browser. Cloudflare also uses IP addresses to apply rate limits and block abuse. See Cloudflare's privacy policy.
- Resend delivers our emails. See Resend's privacy policy.
- If we ever use another service (such as a newsletter platform) to send updates to people who opted in, we'll update this page first.
How long we keep it
- Signups are kept while 2016 is in development, or until you ask us to delete them.
Your choices
- Stop emails with the unsubscribe link in any email. This also takes you off the count.
- Delete your data at 2016movie.com/delete, or by emailing contact@2016movie.com. This removes you from the count.
- Get a copy or correct your details by emailing contact@2016movie.com.
Security
Unsubscribe and removal links in our emails are digitally signed, so they only work for the address they were sent to. The signup database isn't publicly accessible, and our private dashboard requires a login. The public counter only ever shows a total. No system is perfectly secure, but we collect as little as we can.
Children
This site isn't directed at children under 13, and they shouldn't sign up.
Changes
If we change how we use your information, we'll update this page and the date above.
